Youth 'sexting' trend concerns

Young people using text messaging to send explicit photos of themselves is becoming a bigger concern. There have been several reports recently that images sent in confidence (for e.g. from girlfriend to boyfriend) have been passed around others, got into the wrong hands, been posted online or used to bully the sender.

Most of the texts are sent by under-18s, and under British law it is illegal to distribute or possess indecent photos of a minor. So in theory, teens could be arrested for taking/sending photos of themselves; a number of such charges have been brought in the States and Australia.
