4 stabbed in racially motivated attack

A shocking report in the news this week reveals that a mob of around 30 young people set upon a group of 6 Muslim Asian students outside City University. Armed with knives, metal poles, bricks and sticks the mob set upon the students without warning, also injuring several passers by who tried to help.

The police have expressed concerns that the attack was carried out by an extremist group who may have also been involved in several other attacks recently.

'The Lost Boys of Brixton'

A fantastic article in The Week (14th Nov) has outlined the experiences of a female middle class writer who has befriended gang members in Brixton.

It isn't a story about how she's turned their lives around, they are still committing crimes and she mentions the hopelessness of their situation. Poorly educated and uninspired, they have dropped out of society - they can make more money selling drugs and guns than they can from any 'legit' paid work.
